Artist's Comments

So this might be familiar to all you old friends out there. This is Maggie from my slow webcomic Monkeytale. Anyways this originally was going to be my first colored picture digitally to see what I could do in the Gimp. Instead I end up doing the Sailor V pic. I learned a lot, yay for the Multiply feature! I still need to figure out why I can't color on new transparent layers.. I'm doing something wrong or maybe I need to try Photoshop out soon. hahah, that requires me to restart my computer to go into Windows since I'm mainly a linux user. Anyways any coloring hints are welcome!

While I was coloring Maggie, I got the idea that she would do good in the Swords suit of tarot cards.. because she is pretty firey and a dominate type of person. The Ace of Swords card fits her pretty well, Maggie does triumph at an excessive degree. She is forceful over people to get her way, she has tremdous power that she gets off on because of the corporation she owns. She loves being able to tell her workers what to do.

Anyways I've been wanting to work on a tarot deck for a loooooooong time so here I am, first card done.. hahah I really didn't think I would create a minor Arcana card first! I was kinda planning on doing the Major cards first! I will give this carda border and prob change the card she's holding a bit to make it more professional looking. Anyways enjoy and give me hints!!

This looks good. However, some comments I have:

Her fingernails look like they have buegel(sp?) chips on the end of them. Fingernails can be hard to draw...

Her torso is rather long, or her boobs are rather high, whichever way you percieve it.
Also commenting on her torso, it's twisted in a rather uncomfortable looking manner. Her pelvis is pointing out and somewhat to the right whereas her shoulders are pointing back and somewhat to the left.

Her hair is rather interesting--the right is foofy and flippy while the left is stringy and almost looks dreadlock-ish.

One last comment, the shadow on the top by her hairline is a bit much to cover her whole head like that.

Overall, the piece is coming along rather nicely. Digital coloring is rather fun when you're not bashing your head over it, lol.

Although I shouldn’t oughta; for maybe in another place, another town, another time--maybe he is right-side up and I am upside-down." --Shel Silverstine

Great concept :) the torso is a bit long but other than that its a good picture and I love the colour concept

Thanks, yeah I kinda made her that way cause she's all turned and twisted like she's coming up from somewhere *LOL* I'm getting a little better at figuring stuff out on coloring digitally!
